"I'm a doctor," Priya said. "I don't get to be done."
They walked out of the courthouse into the Mumbai afternoon. Below the steps, a small group of people with a banner: photographs of the hundred and nine, printed large, held in the hands of family members who had come from across the city to stand outside the place where what was done to their people was finally, at the length and cost of years, being answered for.
Priya stopped on the steps and looked at the faces on the banner until she had looked at all of them. Then she walked down into the Mumbai afternoon and kept going.
