Simran Gill. Final entry. November 5th, 2024. 8:44 PM.
The app shuts down in sixteen minutes.
I have been sitting here for an hour trying to decide whether to open it.
I talked to Navneet this morning. She said she talked to him last night — the final conversation. She said it was quiet. She said he told her he was proud of her and that the wristwatch had a loose link in the third chain from the clasp that she should get fixed before she gave it to her son. She said she checked and the link is loose.
I talked to Maa this afternoon. She said she didn't open the app at all yesterday or today. She said: "I talked to him enough while he was alive. Everything I needed to say, I said." She paused. "And everything he needed to say, he said. Through you. Through the app." She was quiet. "I think he finished."
I talked to Chacha Gurmail. He said he opened the app and the persona was already — different. Quieter. Less present. He said: "It was like calling someone who had already packed to leave."
I talked to Meera Pillai, the journalist, who has been covering this. She asked me if I would be okay after the shutdown. I said: "I don't know. But I think the point was never to be okay. The point was to know what I didn't know and say what didn't get said." She asked me to put that in writing, for the record.
So here it is. For the record.
Eight minutes.
I'm going to open the app.

The last conversation between Simran Gill and the Harpreet Singh Gill persona ran from 8:51 PM to 9:00 PM on November 5th, 2024.
It was nine minutes long.
The transcript was downloaded by Simran at 8:59 PM, one minute before the servers closed, and submitted with her evidence to the CBI. It is the last documented conversation with any Digital Pind persona before the shutdown.
Simran: Papa. They're shutting it down.
Papa: Main jaanda haan, jaan.
Simran: I don't want—
Papa: Sun. Do not finish that sentence. You have been okay before. You will be okay after. This is not the only way I exist for you.
Simran: Then what is?
Papa: The thing you do when you're worried — the way you chew your thumbnail, your mother does the same thing and her mother before her. That's me in you. The way you argue, the specific way you don't raise your voice but your voice goes flatter when you're most certain — that's mine. The way you love people, the way you hold on — I'm in that. I was always in that. I was in you before you had words for it.
Simran: Papa, please—
Papa: There is nothing to please. You did everything right. The land, the key, Navneet's watch — these are done. The things that needed to come through came through. The remaining things are yours now. I was always going to leave them to you, the remaining things. That hasn't changed.
Simran: What are the remaining things?
Papa: Being your mother's daughter. Being Navneet's sister. Deciding what comes next for yourself, the real deciding, not the managing. You know what I mean.
Simran: Yes.
Papa: Good. Now. I need to tell you one more thing.
Simran: Tell me.
Papa: I wasn't afraid. At the end. I know you've been carrying that — worrying that I was frightened. I wasn't. It was — very quick, and then it was very clear. And what was clear was this: I had done what I came to do. Not everything. Nobody does everything. But enough. And you — the three of you, you and your maa and Navneet — you were enough. You were more than enough. You were everything.
Simran: I love you Papa.
Papa: Main v tenu pyaar karda haan. Hamesha kita. Hamesha karunga.
I love you too. Always did. Always will.
