November 12th through 17th.The production records from this period are incomplete. The footage exists — twelve hours of material over six days — but its organization is wrong. In the debriefs, all three surviving crew members agreed that the six days after visiting the temple felt contracted. Not missing — they were present, they ate, they slept, they spoke with each other and with Haripada and with Madan Das — but the period had the temporal texture of a half-remembered dream rather than a lived experience. Details were available but context was gone. Events existed in isolation without the connective tissue of before and after.Priti's spatial memory damage appeared to extend, she would later discover, to temporal sequencing. She could describe events from those six days with precision but could not order them. What the footage showed, in the order it was recorded:Rohan filming the Sundarbans as they moved back through the buffer zone. The footage was extraordinary — the best documentary cinematography of his career, in the assessment of the editor who would later work with the material. Composed, still, deeply attentive. He filmed the forest with the eye of someone who was no longer afraid of it, who was no longer afraid of anything it contained.Samir conducting an interview with Priti about the temple, which Samir decided was necessary for the documentary. Priti gave the academic account with fluency. Halfway through the interview, Samir stopped mid-question and looked at his hands. He asked Priti: "What was I saying?" She told him. He did not continue the question. This sequence appears to have been erased from Samir's short-term continuity — one of a dozen such episodes in the footage, a pattern that was not obviously wrong in real time but which assembled into a picture of a man whose sequential memory was being slowly degraded.Lata sitting alone at the bow of the boat. Not filming herself — the camera was on a fixed mount. She is sitting with her journal open but not writing. She is looking at the water. Her expression is calm. It is the expression of someone at rest. And Haripada. Always at a slight remove. Watching.* * *
